Drawings of Time Capsule

The location for my project is the second floor right outside the elevator and room 204. It hangs from the ceiling at eye level so that you can look in and see the reflection of the light.
Here are the thumbnails for the location of my project.
this is the ortho view of my time capsule. You can see that the image is round and is hanging.

Process Booklet

I really like my zine however, it started to fall apart by the time I went to scan it. So I would change the binding method if I had to. I would also make it more playful in a way.

My fav. room

This is Jennifer Post apartment in New York. I really particularly like this one because it is so light and airy without being too boring. I love the creme-yellow color of the walls and the glass table top. Also the chandeliers are beautiful. This room is a success because everything flows together in such great harmony.
This room is pretty simple except for the little splashes of light blue. The table is a Robsjohn-Gibbings walnut table and the light fixture is by Fortuny. I think built in shelves and the metal wall fixture really helps the room in more ways then one.

Color combo

Interior Designer Frank Roop owns this room. I really like the colors and the furniture being in velvet. I also like how the walls look like they're tiled. I really like dark wood floors, which the room has.

Glass Menagerie

Clare Glass flowers by Marc Jacobs for Waterford. and Ole Palsby's glass carafes for Georg Jensen. Both of these little artifacts are so pretty in their clear simpleness. I have always found simple glass objects to be so intriguing. The way you can make something that detailed and perfect out of glass is beyond me, and this is why love this artifact.

Smetana Hall

The splendid interior is the Smetana Hall at the Municipal House in once again Prague. The building itself is one of the most important buildings of the art deco. What makes the concert experience so wonderful in this hall is it's acoustics. I really like how the lights are part of the archways in the ceiling. It really draws your eye to the ceiling to view the magnificent paintings.

The National Theatre

Also in Prague, the National Theatre completed in 1881. The inner and outer design was completed by M. Ales, F. Zenisek, V. Hynais and J.V Myslbek. The inside was redone in 1883 after a major fire. The Theatre sits on the Vltava river. The building plays host to Czech's finest ballet and operas. I really liked renaissance buildings and this is a neon-renaissance building. I think how it is so lit up really plays a part in how it's viewed. I'm sure it's also beautiful during the day, but if it's night time and you see this huge amazing building it just has a powerful feel to it. Also I'm a big fan of statues and columns and things like that.

Prague

The Dancing House was designed by Frank Gehry and Vlado Milunic. It's a cobination of a double office building. The building is in Prague, Czech Republic. After the country came out of communism modernism, and art deco started to take over the city. This piece is so different yet so amazingly cool. I mean how can you build something that looks like that and have the interior be a successful space. This is why I am in this major to learn things like how I can do that someday.

Paradise

This is part of a home in Lamu, Kenya. It's an open master bedroom-bath. This is one of those pictures that when flipping through a magazine it catches your eye right away. I think it's so interesting how they designed it to be so open yet controlling the water at the same time. It's just so beautiful. Also the fact that the bedroom and bath being all open overlooks the Indian ocean. I can't even imagine.

Old Stone

I had to put this home on here since it is from the hills of Eastern Pennsylvania. The architecture was done by John D. Milner. The residence 24 rooms are dispersed in wings that appear to have been added over many years. The exterior is clad in local fieldstone and in brick. The roof is done in terra-cotta tiles. The house has a very old english feel to it. I am a big fan of stone homes because my home is made out of real mountain stone not the fake concrete slabs you can buy. I find it very unique and different if you can create a beautiful home not only with the layout but with hard materials like mountain stone.

Old English

I love pools and swimming, so when I saw this interior pool that was just as beautiful as the living or dining room in the house. Virgil M. Greca is the interior designer for this home. The floor is surfaced in Beaumaniere limestone and the stain wood trusses open the height of the room up. I really love how the entire house has an old english feel to it, but the pool room in itself also incorporates that.

chairs and stuff

We had to draw three furniture pieces and this is the combo that I chose. I really liked drawing this because it allowed you to really see the curves of the pieces instead of just glancing at them.

Boxes...boxes...stupid boxes

I really liked drawing the boxes...somewhat. But making them, well let's just say I was a second away from killing myself

People

I really enjoy drawing people, but drawing someone in the matter of a min. I was a little worried. I am one of those people that when drawing a person I pay attention to the little details way to much. However I really enjoyed drawing these people it was def. a fun day in class.

Bart Prince

Bart Prince opened his own Alberqurque office in 1973, and has since then been very succesfull. His designs are one of a kind. He has a view point that we should design for ourselves, and our buildings should be nothing like anything before. I think his view point on this is a good one to have for those who have the creative mind. He has designed a lot of homes in the southwestern area, and each one is nothing like one before it.

Moore Ruble Yudell

“Nature,” says Buzz Yudell, “in its endless complexity and extraordinary elegance, is our most profoundly inspiring influence.” Maybe that's why Buzz Yudell, Charles Moore, and John Ruble made a buisness together. They focus a lot on nature and the environment. This is why their buildings are so successful. In order to have a great design I think you really need to design not only for the client but also nature and things that will surround the building.

Peter L. Gluck

www.architecturaldigest.com/architects/100/peter_gluck/peter_gluck_profile
Peter L. Gluck is a New York based architect and has been around for over 30 years. I really like his work because it's very modern. He designs buildings and home for the context and usually doesn't make any traditional reference at all. I do like tradition just not a lot of it.

Tim...sorry

I really enjoy drawing people and usually I can get their angle and proportion realitivly close. However this particular drawing of Tim sitting on a wall jut doesn't quite work. I'm not sure what I did wrong because I took his proportion and the angle of his legs, arms, etc. I even checked it multiple times, just didn't work.

famous furniture drawings

I really enjoyed drawing the furniture pieces. Not only was it cool to have the furniture for our own knowledge but drawing the pieces helped to understand the curves and thickness of the piece that make it such an interesting design.

Nokia's palace

I can't believe this is a Nokia's flagship in New York City. This is on the 3rd floor and the walls rotate colors. I think that sometimes certain companies and their headquarters become very boring. They're all the same, and if I wanted a new phone this room would sell it to me.

Country Cool

This is a room in the Cotswolds88hotel, which is in the town of Painswick. It's an 18th century mansion and the outside is very neoclassical. What really stood out to me in this room is the counter that has upholstered white walls. One of my fav. color combinations is black, white, and yellow. I think the designer did a really good job at making the wall paper not seem as busy or overwhelming as it could be.

Chopsticks, Welch's juice, and Grey's Anatomy

Chopsticks, a welch's juice can, and Grey's Anatomy season 2 is what i choose for my still life. Things I need to survive in this world.

HW

Our assignment was to do several drawings to practice our shading. All assignments were from the Design Drawing book by Francis D.K Ching. The ones below were the first, it was to use shading to transform a circle, triangle, and polygon into a sphere, cone, and cube. Above Left: We were to then repeat the exercise using a fine-tipped pen. Above Right: We were to copy this picture out of the book and create shadows with a pen and pencil.
